The Federal Integrity Commission announced today, Wednesday, the arrest of an officer in the Maysan Governorate Police Command, red-handed, committing the crime of bribery; in exchange for facilitating some procedures related to his work.
The Media and Government Communication Office of the Commission stated in a statement received by “Al-Rasheed” that “the Maysan Investigation Office formed a working team after receiving information contained in a complaint stating that an officer working in one of the security agencies in the governorate requested a sum of money (a bribe) from one of the complainants.”
He explained that “the team, after obtaining the judicial order, proceeded to set up a tight ambush for the accused, who works as an investigation officer with the rank of (Major) in one of the police stations affiliated with the Maysan Governorate Police Command, and caught him red-handed with a sum of money in his possession,” indicating that “the accused received the bribe in exchange for his handling of the investigative papers deposited in the station related to the complainant.”
The office noted that “a formal seizure report was prepared for the operation, which was carried out in accordance with the provisions of Resolution No. 160 of 1983, and it was presented, along with the accused and the seized items, to the competent investigating judge to complete the legal procedures and decide the fate of the accused.”
