Today, Thursday, the Federal Integrity Commission announced the arrest of (10) people accused of bribery in the Diyala Electricity Distribution Department, in addition to the arrest of (6) others. For trespassing on a property belonging to the state in Diyala Governorate.
The Authority’s Government Media and Communications Office stated, in a statement received by “Al-Rasheed,” that “the Diyala Investigation Office’s work team was able to arrest the directors of the Buhriz Outskirts Electricity and Maintenance Center, and eight engineers and technicians in the Buhriz Electricity Sector and the Abu Khamis Maintenance Center.” Against the background of receiving sums of money from one of the contractors assigned to implement the work of the high-voltage electricity wiring project from Abu Khamis station to the Al-Jeel area.”
He added, “The defendants who admitted to receiving sums of money from the contractor, by their actions, caused the waste of more than (200,000,000) two hundred million dinars of public money,” pointing out that they were brought before the attention of the competent investigating judge. Who decided to arrest them in accordance with the provisions of Article (340) of the Penal Code.”
He continued, “Members of the investigation and seizure team in the office overthrew a company director, an engineer, and four of the company’s employees. For trespassing on state real estate and constructing a building in violation of the law,” he pointed out, “the defendants trespassed on the property on which the central markets building in the governorate, which belongs to the Ministry of Commerce, was built.”
He explained, “The defendants were caught red-handed and brought before a judge in the Baqubah Investigation Court, which is competent to look into integrity cases. to decide their fate.”
