Minister of Water Resources Aoun Diab announced today, Sunday, a plan to restore water pumping to the Babylon resort, while indicating that his ministry has carried out development work in the governorate to stimulate tourism..
Dhiab told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “There is a great development witnessed at the entrance to Shatt al-Hillah in the Hindiya area, as this area is distinguished by the presence of the modern Hindiya Dam and in front of it are beautiful bodies of water and behind it is the ancient Hindiya Dam, which still stands today.”
He added, “The ministry has carried out development work in the Bani Hassan area, which is distinguished by its location near the holy Karbala Governorate and also close to the Hindiya Dam, to create beauty and prepare investment opportunities for this area, to establish suitable tourist resorts, and it is not far from the Babylonian ruins, so it can be a station to attract tourists to it.”
He pointed out that “there is a plan to pump water back to the Babylon resort, which has been exposed to drought, in order to revive tourism in the region.”
Earlier, Minister of Water Resources Aoun Diab and Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities Ahmed Fakak Al-Badrani inaugurated the tourist lakes in the ancient city of Babylon Governorate.
