Baghdad/Nina/ The Federal Integrity Commission announced the implementation of an arrest operation against a senior officer in the Najaf Governorate Police Directorate, and caught him red-handed in the crime of bribery.
Integrity indicated in a statement: “The work team in the Najaf Investigation Office communicated with one of the complainants following a request from an officer with the rank of brigadier general who works as director of the juvenile police in the governorate to obtain an amount of three hundred thousand dinars (a bribe) in exchange for allowing the complainant to view the investigative papers deposited in Juvenile Police Department, and knowing the procedures that were taken against juvenile defendants who are “relatives of the complainant.”
She added: “The team was able, after setting up an elaborate ambush, to overthrow the brigadier general after he received the bribe amount in a restaurant in the city of Najaf. The amount was seized in the government car in which the accused was traveling, and the amount was duly matched.”
She continued that the team organized a proper arrest report on the operation, which was carried out based on a judicial warrant, and presented it, along with the accused and the criminal evidence, to the competent investigating judge, noting the judge’s decision to arrest the accused./End 7
