Baghdad/Nina/ Today, Saturday, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs Ahmed Al-Assadi announced statistics on the number of people covered by social care.
Al-Asadi said, during the Sixth Baghdad Dialogue Conference, “We have developed practical plans and programs to develop the ministry’s services provided to citizens, and our ministry was supported in the 2023 budget with good allocations that contributed to introducing new initiatives.”
He added, “We moved towards addressing multi-dimensional poverty and set out to expand inclusion horizontally, and we made applying for inclusion in the ministry’s services electronically to provide the opportunity for all citizens,” noting that “about two million and 700 thousand individuals have applied for social protection.”
He continued, “During the year 2023, we included about 900,000 new families with social protection, and this is a very large number that contributed to social stability,” adding, “Our ministry is concerned with everything related to the private sector, as well as social security and workers’ retirement. It is also concerned with the status of foreign workers and ensuring that their compensation is national labor in proportion.” 50%.
He added, “We have two million and 152 thousand families and individuals who receive the social protection salary, and there are 600 thousand of the families covered by social protection headed by women, and more than 350 thousand of the disabled and people with disabilities receive the social protection salary.
