Leah Williamson has signed a new contract, extending her 19-year partnership with Arsenal. The 27-year-old defender, who joined the academy as a child, has made 232 appearances for the club since her debut in 2014, during which time she has won one league title, two FA Cups and four League Cups champion.
“Everyone knows what Arsenal means to me, but I think every time I sign a new contract I feel the love is reignited,” the England captain said. “I’m happy to stay – it’s a place where I can still continue to grow, develop and be challenged.
“As a team we are all very focused on bringing more trophies to the club and I can’t wait to get started again when the new season arrives.”

Arsenal have yet to reveal the length of Williamson’s new deal, but coach Jonas Advall said: “Lea is an important part of our squad so we are delighted that she has signed a new deal with us. She is on and off the pitch. A lot has been brought to us – leadership, responsibility and dedication – and I look forward to continuing to work together to bring more success to this great club.
