The Ministry of Health announced that 7 cases of AIDS had been recorded among children up to the age of 4 years, while identifying the most important causes of transmission of the disease.

Ministry of Health spokesman Saif Al-Badr said to the “Duty of Frankness” program shown on Al-Iraqiya News, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Iraq is among the countries with low endemicity of AIDS,” indicating that “more than 2,000 Iraqi people are infected with AIDS, and this rate “Less than the global average and countries in the region.”
He added, “We recorded 7 cases of AIDS among children up to the age of 4 years,” indicating that “a person with AIDS can live with the disease and complete his life if he commits to receiving treatment regularly.”
He pointed out that “treatments for AIDS are fully available in all specialized centers in Baghdad and the governorates,” stressing that “cupping and tattooing may be among the reasons for transmitting AIDS, in addition to other reasons.”
He continued, “There is no vaccine or complete cure for AIDS yet, but the infected person can live with the disease if he receives treatment correctly and regularly,” explaining that “early diagnosis is the most important stage in the case of AIDS infection.”
