Today, Wednesday, the Office of the Prime Minister’s Advisor for Education, Tourism and Antiquities held a workshop to develop an integrated mechanism towards revitalizing the tourism and antiquities sectors to be a means of attracting various tourists from all countries of the world.
The Deputy Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities, Qasim Al-Sudani, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “Under the guidance of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia’ Al-Sudani, on the need to revitalize the tourism sector, especially the archaeological ones emphasized by the government program, a workshop was held, preceded by several workshops in the ministry with cadres.” Tourism and antiquities in order to intertwine their work and activate the archaeological tourism sector.”
He added, “Iraq is a country rich in antiquities and archaeological monuments, and has more than 9 sites listed on the World Heritage List,” indicating that “all of these factors are important material for archaeological tourism.”
He explained, “The workshop was held to study mechanisms and plans in the short, medium, and long term, in order to advance archaeological tourism of all kinds, and to make it an important tributary of the economy.”
He pointed out, “Tourism is considered a clean industry, and revitalizing it is a national mission that falls on the responsibility of the Ministry of Tourism and Antiquities as a supervisory sector body.”
For his part, Advisor to the Prime Minister for Tourism, Culture and Antiquities Affairs, Qahtan al-Jubouri, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “This workshop was held under the guidance of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani, to activate the tourism sector and preserve antiquities to be means of attracting various tourists from all countries.” the world”.
He stated, “Iraq has a variety of tourism, including religious, recreational, archaeological, and others. Therefore, after meeting with all specialists from the private sector and investors, this workshop was held with the specialized authorities in the Ministry of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities to develop an integrated mechanism towards revitalizing the tourism sector and preserving the antiquities sector.” “To achieve fruitful results and attract tourists from different countries of the world.”
