A dead goose was found in the flight controls of a medical helicopter that crashed in western Oklahoma, killing all three people on board, according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB).
While the report highlighted the presence of the goose on board, it did not specify the suspected cause of the fatal crash. The report states that other geese were found in the wreckage.
The National Transportation Safety Board said a report on the possible causes of the crash could take up to two years to complete.
The helicopter crashed on Jan. 20 at a ranch near Hydro, about 60 miles (97 kilometers) west of Oklahoma City. The helicopter transported a patient to an Oklahoma City hospital before returning to the Weatherford community.
The pilot and two members of the Air Evac Lifeteam crew (a flight nurse and a paramedic) were killed.
