The World Health Organization announced on Friday that residents in the Gaza Strip are risking their lives in order to obtain food, water and other necessities, in light of the hunger and despair that conditions have reached amid the continuing Israeli attack.
Organization spokesman Christian Lindmeier told reporters in Geneva, “The regime in Gaza is on the verge of collapse, and even more than that… all lifelines in Gaza have been cut off in one way or another,” according to Reuters.
He also added that this created a “tragic situation” as happened yesterday, Thursday, when more than 100 people were killed while seeking humanitarian aid at the Nabulsi Junction in the west of Gaza City in the northern Strip.
He also stressed that “people are in such desperate need of food and clean water, and any supplies, that they risk their lives to obtain any food or any supplies to support their children and support themselves.”
While he concluded by saying, “Food supplies are deliberately stopped. Let us not forget that.”
