Advisor to the Prime Minister, Diaa Al-Nasseri, confirmed that foreign policy and diplomatic representation are exclusively the responsibility of the federal government.

Al-Nasiri said in his blog post on the (X) platform, followed by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “according to Article 110 of the Iraqi Constitution, foreign policy and diplomatic representation are exclusively the responsibility of the federal government, and the regions have no right to infringe on it.”
He added: “Therefore, I call on the Prime Minister of the Kurdistan Regional Government to cooperate to solve the living and service issues for the people of the region and to leave the issue of external representation to the federal government.”
