FIFA commented on the controversy surrounding the possibility of referees using a new blue card in matches.
Press reports stated that the Football Association Board (IFAB) approved the implementation of the Blue Card experiment.
But FIFA announced in an official statement that these reports were incorrect, stressing: “What was rumored about the so-called blue card at the elite levels of football is incorrect and premature.”
He added: “Any such experiments, once implemented, should be limited to testing in a responsible manner at lower levels.”
At the conclusion of the statement, FIFA indicated the necessity of emphasizing this matter when it is discussed in the agenda of the Federation Council (IFAB), on the second of next March.
Some reports indicated that the blue card aims to exclude the player for 10 minutes from the match.
The blue card will be used for fouls that prevent promising attacks, as well as protests against refereeing decisions.
Reports indicated that the player will receive a red card if he receives two blue cards.
The player will also be expelled if he receives two yellow and two blue cards in one match as well.
