Israel’s far-right Heritage Minister Amichai Eliyahu has once again sparked controversy over Egypt’s “occupation of the Sinai Peninsula.”
The far-right heritage minister reposted a post promoting the sale of merchandise calling for the occupation of the Sinai Peninsula.
The post calls for the purchase of a T-shirt printed with what is supposed to be a map of Israel including the West Bank, Gaza and Sinai, and bearing the slogan “Occupation Now.”
The minister said in the tweet: “Have you seen this beautiful shirt?? I ordered it now for the whole family!.. This is how awareness is created!”
He added: “Go to the link and buy t-shirts, magnets, stickers, take them on trips, give them to all the kids to wear and soon there will be sizes for toddlers.. put them on the car, let’s create awareness.”
He continued, saying: “The people demand occupation! Occupation now!”
The extremist minister concluded his post with a link to a website that sells merchandise bearing the slogan “Occupation Now” and calls for expanding Israeli sovereignty into Sinai, southern Lebanon and eventually Jordan, according to the Times of Israel.
In November 2023, the minister, who belongs to the far-right Otzma Yehudit party led by Itamar Ben-Gvir, said in a controversial statement during a radio interview that “dropping a nuclear bomb on the Gaza Strip is an option.”
