Real Madrid star has taken a step towards moving to one of the Saudi Professional League clubs next season.
The famous Italian journalist, Rudy Galetti, revealed, through his account on the “X” platform, early Saturday morning, that Andriy Lunin agreed to meet again with officials of the Saudi Investment Fund, in preparation for moving to the Roshn League.
My gal did not specify exactly when the first meeting took place, or what was discussed.
The journalist, who specializes in the Saudi transfer market, indicated that Lunin will meet with the Investment Fund officials next week to better understand the details of the contract prepared for him.
The Ukrainian goalkeeper has sparked speculation about his future with Real Madrid, when asked by Marca if he would stay with the team, he replied by saying: “We will see, we will see.”
Lunin is linked to Real Madrid with a contract until June 2025.
Lunin, 25, had a golden opportunity to play as a starter for Real Madrid last season, in light of the injury of Belgian Thibaut Courtois.
Lunin performed exceptionally well in the 31 matches he played in all tournaments, keeping 12 clean sheets, and was one of the reasons behind the royal team winning the Spanish League and the Champions League double.
But he found himself on the bench again at the end of the season, after Courtois returned.
Galetti himself indicated on Friday that Lunin is one of three goalkeepers that the Saudi Investment Fund is targeting to join Saudi clubs next season, along with Jan Oblak, the Atletico Madrid goalkeeper, and Pinto from Brazilian club Atletico Paranaense.
Al-Nassr and Al-Ittihad are the clubs most eager to negotiate these negotiations, in light of their desire to strengthen the goalkeeping position, after the departure of David Ospina from Al-Alamy, and Marcelo Grohe from Al-Ameed, while Abdullah Al-Mayouf is close to leaving the Tigers team as well.
However, Al-Nassr are in advanced negotiations with Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes, and if they fail, they will try to convince Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson Becker to play in Saudi Arabia.
