Spain coach Luis de la Fuente has called on his players to make history for their country when they face England in the European Championship final on Sunday evening at the Olympic Stadium in Berlin.
“It’s a great generation (the current generation of the Spanish national team), many of them have had successful youth levels and that usually bodes well for success,” De la Fuente said at the press conference ahead of the anticipated final.
“We want to start making history. We have already made history on our way to (the final). I believe in a great future, there is a present and a future,” he continued.
Spain is looking to make history as it seeks to break the record for the number of continental championship titles it currently shares with Germany (three titles each).
Spain’s mission will not be easy in the Euro 2024 final, as they face a star-studded England team looking to win their first major tournament since 1966, when they won the World Cup on home soil.
