Turkish Deputy Foreign Minister Ahmed Yildiz said that Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan will visit Iraq before the end of next April.
This came in statements during his visit today to the headquarters of the Turkish Embassy in Baghdad, indicating that he will begin his meetings with Iraqi officials tomorrow, Wednesday.
Yildiz explained that he will hold discussions in the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs during which bilateral relations will be reviewed, preparations will be made for a meeting that will be held at the ministerial level in the coming period and a visit by President Erdogan.
He pointed to the importance of the development road project that extends from Iraq to Turkey, stressing that the project will meet a great need, especially since Turkey is a large economy and a neighbor of Europe.
He added, “Iraq also had a large economy,” expressing his hope that it would return to what it was.
He stressed that both countries are enthusiastic about the project, and added, “We believe that if it is implemented, it will bring (significant) benefits that are not compared to its cost.”
Regarding President Erdogan’s planned visit to Iraq, Yildiz said, “According to planning and preparations, the visit will take place before the end of April.”
