Nechirvan Barzani, President of the Kurdistan Region, met with Recep Tayyip Erdogan, President of the Republic of Türkiye, today, Wednesday, in the capital, Ankara.
A statement by the region’s presidency, received by Al-Rasheed, explained that “the two sides stressed the development of Turkey’s relations with Iraq and the Kurdistan region, especially in the economic field. In this context, the two sides discussed ways to raise the level of trade exchange, job opportunities, and the operation of Turkish capital throughout Iraq and the region.” “.
He added, “Erdogan stressed his country’s continued cooperation and support for Iraq and the Kurdistan Region and joint cooperation between the two sides in all fields. He also demonstrated the readiness and desire of the private sector in his country to work and invest in various sectors and fields.”
The statement noted, “The two sides expressed their concern about the tense situation in the Middle East, its danger, and its potential repercussions on the region. In this regard, the opinions of both sides agreed on the need for everyone to work to prevent the widening circle of complications, and to solve problems through peaceful means.”
He continued, “The relations of Erbil and Baghdad, the development road project, the relations of Iraq and the Kurdistan Region with the countries of the region, and the dangers of terrorism and confronting ISIS occupied another axis of the meeting.”
