The Ministry of Electricity confirmed that the Dibs gas power plant project will contribute to the reliability and stability of the electrical power system.
The ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the general managers of electrical energy production for the northern region, Walid Khaled Hassan, and electrical energy transmission for the central region, Riyadh Aribi, accompanied by the Assistant Director General of the Technical Department of the Ministry of Electricity, Firas Ali Abdullah, conducted a field visit to the Dibs Gas Power Plant project and met with the managers of the Dibs Gas Power Plant project, Abdul Amir Mohsen Hassan, and the Dibs Gas Power Plant, Hamid Attia Sudi, and the engineering and technical staff in it and the cadres of the Sada Al-Nojoom Company for Electrical Services implementing the project.”
He added that “an expanded meeting was held to discuss the reality of the production and transportation sector and to enhance ways to increase the efficiency of electrical energy and support the national electricity system and prepare all necessary work requirements to begin operational tests of the first generating unit by installing a 6.6/132 kV power transformer with a capacity of 25 MVA in cooperation with the staff of the General Company for Energy Transmission for the Central Region.”
He continued: “They also reviewed the production status of the project for the second generating unit, noting that the total capacity of the project is 320 megawatts,” noting that “the project is considered one of the important projects of the Ministry of Electricity and the project aims to add new electrical energy that contributes to the reliability and stability of the national electricity system in a way that achieves a service for the public interest.”
