Today, Tuesday, the Ministry of Electricity revealed its plan in preparation for the summer, and while it indicated an increase in generating capacity by 3,000 megawatts over last summer to reach 27,000 megawatts, it confirmed that it had achieved a qualitative leap in the transportation sector that doubled the capacity of lines.

Ministry spokesman Ahmed Musa told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The Ministry has prepared an early plan in preparation for the summer, which includes the production, transportation and distribution sectors, in order to achieve comprehensive maintenance of obstetric units.”
He added, “The Ministry signed agreements with the companies G and Siemens regarding maintenance for a period of 5 long-term years, in addition to carrying out major work on the cooling system and the wasted capacities of production units,” pointing out that “the Prime Minister directed the inclusion of lagging projects, as the Ministry was keen to Inclusion and re-operation of it, such as the Dibs station in Kirkuk Governorate and the Anbar composite station in Anbar Governorate,” warning that “there is an increase in generating capacities by about 27 thousand megawatts.”
He pointed out, “Last summer, the Ministry achieved stability in production at a rate of 24 thousand megawatts, while there will be an increase in generating capacities for the current year within the ministry’s plan, amounting to 27 thousand megawatts, meaning there will be an increase at a rate of 3 thousand megawatts.”
He added, “The Ministry was able to achieve a qualitative shift in the transportation sector by creating new transmission lines, expanding some stations, and converting all high-voltage lines to double circuits,” noting that “previously, the line was transmitting 1,000 megawatts and now it transmits 2,000 megawatts, in addition to reducing Incidents that occurred in the system.
Regarding the distribution sector, Musa said, “The Ministry worked to develop feeders, install fixed and mobile stations, rehabilitate distribution networks, and provide equipment, transformers, and maintenance centers that enable workers to provide services,” noting “the pursuit of smart transformation of the electrical network in 15 areas between Baghdad and the governorates, in addition to To proceed with the diversification of gas and energy sources, install combined cycles, create thermal oceans, and fully rehabilitate the electricity sector.”
The Ministry’s spokesman confirmed, “This summer will be better than last summer in terms of the Ministry’s commitments and what is related to its work, provided that sufficient fuel and gas are provided to supply the stations.”
