Egyptian Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry warned of the expansion of the conflict in the Middle East, the threat to navigation in the Red Sea and military actions in Syria and Iraq.
Shukri said during a joint press conference with his French counterpart, Stephane Sigourney, that “the war in Gaza, the threat to navigation in the Red Sea, the military actions in Syria and Iraq, and the military situation on the Lebanese-Israeli border, all warn of an aggravation of the situation and a slide into a broader conflict, and we seek to avoid it through Demanding a ceasefire in Gaza.
Shoukry affirmed Egypt’s rejection of the forced displacement of Palestinians from the Gaza Strip, stressing that the Palestinian issue must be dealt with through a comprehensive political framework, and a time frame must be set for the establishment of an independent Palestinian state.
He pointed out the continued communication with the French minister, and all agencies in the two countries, to work on confronting common challenges, and within the bilateral framework to advance the relationship.
