In Laos zijn vier mensen overleden nadat ze vergiftigde alcohol hadden gedronken. De alcohol bleek vermengd te zijn met methanol, een chemische stof waarvan een kleine hoeveelheid al dodelijk kan zijn. Jaarlijks vallen er wereldwijd meerdere slachtoffers door het nuttigen van vergiftigde alcohol, voornamelijk in armere regio’s.
