Dhurandhar: The Revenge has become the highest-grossing Indian film of all time at the North American box office as it reached $22.8m in its second weekend, breaking the nine-year record previously held by Baahubali 2.
The Hindi-language action epic produced by Jio Studios and B62 Studios added an estimated $4.8m through Moviegoers Entertainment, overtaking Telegu-language Baahubali 2’s $20.2m final gross.
Aditya Dhar’s crime story starring Ranveer Singh as an undercover agent who infiltrates the Pakistani criminal underworld dropped 52% against the opening session, earning $1.3m on Friday, $1.9m on Saturday, and $1.5m on Sunday from 987 locations – the same footprint as opening weekend.
The R-rated feature ranks fourth overall and continues to over-index in Canada from approximately 125 screens. The country’s large Indian diaspora has pushed ticket sales to a 33% share of total North American box office.
Meanwhile Amazon MGM Studios’ Project Hail Mary starring Ryan Gosling added $54.5m from 4,077 locations to stay atop the North American charts after an encouraging 32% drop in the second weekend boosted the running total to $164.3m.
Worldwide box office stands at an estimated $300.8m, positioning the $200m production on solid ground and establishing the Andy Weir (The Martian) adaptation as a genuine hit for Amazon MGM Studios in the inaugural year of its full theatrical slate releases.
The PG-13 sci-fi adventure directed by Phil Lord and Chirstopher Miller is delivering robust numbers on Imax, where it added $10.1m for $33m and approximately 20% of the overall North American gross. The Imax 15/70mm format has generated $4.3m from 15 North American and one UK (BFI Imax) site for a $269,000 per-screen average.
Disney/Pixar’s Hoppers ranks second on $12.2m from 3,650 sites for a $138.6m cumulative tally in the fourth session. Placing third was the disappointing $5m debut from 2,778 of Warner Bros’ action comedy They Will Kill You starring Zazie Beetz as a one-woman army housekeeper who takes a job in a mysterious high-rise.
Rounding out the top five was Universal romance Reminders Of Him on $4.7m from 3,181 for a $41.1m running total after three weekends. Maika Monroe and Tyriq Withers star in the adaptation of the novel by Colleen Hoover, whose It Ends With Us was turned into a $350m worldwide hit distributed by Sony Pictures.
IFC opened Meredith Alloway’s recent SXSW world premiere Forbidden Fruits, about a secret coven at a shopping mall, in tenth place on 1.2m from 1,525.
Overall North American box office per Comscore amounted to $96.9m, up 18% on last weekend. Box office for the year-to-date stands at $1.75bn, which is tracking 23% ahead of 2025 by the same stage.
