Today, Saturday, the government media team detailed the service, health and educational projects referred for implementation in Dhi Qar Governorate, and while confirming that it is witnessing the start of an urban revolution, it indicated that it is witnessing the implementation of 226 projects, including giant projects.
The spokesman for the government media team, Haider Majeed, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The visit of Prime Minister Muhammad Shia al-Sudani last Monday to Dhi Qar Governorate has economic and service dimensions, and gave additional impetus to the local government and directors of administrative units to make more efforts during the next stage.” “, indicating, “Dhi Qar is now witnessing the launch of an urban revolution in all administrative units of all sectors.”
He added, “The visit included issuing a directive to all implementing companies to exert more effort during the next phase and complete the projects on time. Now the governorate is witnessing an integrated reconstruction campaign for more than 226 projects within the Dhi Qar Governorate Reconstruction Fund, as well as the completion of 183 projects.”
Regarding the completion of projects in the governorate, Majeed pointed out that “there are two types, the first includes regional development projects that are carried out under the supervision of the local government of the governorate, and the second relates to the projects of the Governorate Reconstruction Fund under the supervision of the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, and there is periodic follow-up by the Fund’s management in Baghdad and Dhi Qar.” And also the engineering and technical teams in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers to work on these projects.”
He pointed out that “there are other giant projects added to the governorate, including the establishment of the largest medical city in Iraq that contains specialized centers and a large project to implement 30,000 housing units in the governorate, in addition to 100-bed hospitals in Al-Rifai and other districts, as well as projects for water desalination and… All of the sewage stations will be implemented, and there will be an integrated team from the Council of Advisors in the Prime Minister’s Office to follow up on these projects and provide all facilities for the purpose of completing them, and not to allow any delay in these projects.”
He continued, “There are also two major projects, namely the Nasiriyah International Airport project and the Archaeological City of Ur project, as the latter is witnessing international interest, especially after His Holiness the Pope of the Vatican visited it,” explaining, “The completion rates in the tourist city of Ur have reached more than 85%.” It will contain the Sumerian theatre, the closed theatre, an integrated tourist city supported by residential units, green spaces, and an international cultural museum that includes the Sumerian civilization, and there is direct follow-up and supervision by the Secretary-General of the Council of Ministers for these projects.”
Regarding the educational sector in Dhi Qar, Majeed confirmed that “Dhi Qar witnessed the completion of the first school in Iraq within the school buildings project, specifically in the city of Nasiriyah, out of a total of 106 schools in the governorate,” indicating that “the next stage will witness the opening of 31 schools.”
He stated that “about 400 schools were completed within the development projects of the regions and the Ministry of Education in Baghdad and the governorates,” pointing out that “the government’s approach is to end the phenomenon of double and triple cycles and mud and caravan schools.”
