A security source reported today, Friday, the death of a girl after she was beaten and tortured by her father in the Al-Jihad neighborhood, southwest of Baghdad.
The source told Al-Rasheed, “A person brought his 9-year-old daughter to Al-Furat General Hospital in the Al-Jihad neighborhood, and she had passed away. By conducting a physical examination of the victim’s body, it was found that she had sustained several injuries throughout her body.”
He added, “After investigating the victim’s father, he confessed to assaulting her severely with a stick, and torturing her by leaving her tied to the roof of the house for long hours under the scorching sun, which led to her death,” noting that “the victim’s father took her to the hospital, reporting a natural death to hide the evidence of the crime.”
The source explained that “the accused committed this act due to previous family disputes with the victim’s mother, who is separated from him, and he has been detained pending investigation.”
