The General Authority for Tourism and Antiquities, affiliated with the Ministry of Culture, announced today, Tuesday, the development of a plan to revive the tourism and antiquities sectors in five governorates and facilitate the movement of incoming tourists, while noting the completion of the tourist guide in Arabic and English.

The Director General of Inspection and Follow-up of the General Authority for Tourism, Muayyad Haitham Rasan, told the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “A plan has been developed under the supervision of the head of the Authority to revive the tourism and archaeological sector,” pointing out, “to proceed in agreement with the Antiquities Authority to announce the sites that are tourist facilities in Iraq.” .
He added, “These facilities are the Akarkov area and the Mada’in area in Baghdad, and archaeological and tourist areas in Dhi Qar in the city of Nasiriyah, Babylon, and the marshes, which extend to 3 governorates: Dhi Qar, Maysan, Basra, and Lake Sawa in Muthanna.”
He stressed, “Working to support the tourism movement in Iraq by facilitating the movement of expatriates through the rehabilitated roads, as well as providing them with a fully completed tourist guide in English and Arabic to introduce them to the most important tourist sites in Iraq.”
