The Iraqi embassy in Libya stated, in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “the temporary charge d’affaires at the Embassy of the Republic of Iraq to the State of Libya, Ahmed Al-Sahhaf, met with the Minister of Culture and Knowledge Affairs, Mabrouka Tughi Othman, and during the meeting, joint cultural cooperation between the Republic of Libya was discussed.” Iraq and the State of Libya.
Al-Sahhaf stressed “the importance of culture and the arts as one of the most important sources of soft power,” expressing his “happiness with the Minister’s participation in the 35th session of the Mirbad Poetry Festival, which was recently held in Basra.”
In turn, Mabrouka Tughi expressed her “readiness to visit Baghdad and discuss joint cooperation with the Iraqi Ministry of Culture and work to form a joint technical committee to review memorandums of understanding and ways to activate them. The Minister also welcomed the Iraqi Embassy’s proposal to establish an Iraqi-Libyan cultural center,” praising “the Iraqi community that resides.” in the State of Libya, and its competencies in the field of art and culture, expressing its support for those who specialize in this field.”
