Chile’s Cristobal Del Solar set a Korn Ferry Tour record with a 13-under 57 at the Astara Golf Championship on Thursday, a PGA The lowest score in a Tour-sanctioned event, matching the Tour record in the Official World Golf Rankings.
The 30-year-old, ranked 259th in the world, had a perfect round on the Pacos Course at Bogotá Country Club, playing his final three holes in par to still shoot 57. He had two eagles, one of which was an eagle. They shot 8-under 27 on the 330-yard ninth hole, tying the Korn Ferry Tour nine-hole record.
Del Solar’s development benefited from these conditions. The Parkos course is only 6,254 yards and has an elevation of about 8,500 feet, allowing the ball to fly farther. Rainy weather in the days leading up to the tournament meant players could lift, clean and place golf balls under preferred lie rules.
“It was a very short course, and I mean very short,” Del Solar said after the game. “A lot of the holes are playable; I wouldn’t say playable, but within 20 yards of the green. I don’t necessarily hit the green, but I’m right around it. The course is definitely set up for low scores of.
“Now, when you go into a course like this, you don’t think, ‘I’m going to shoot 57.’ You just go out and do your best and hope for a low score. Obviously, you still have to do that.”
Del Sola broke Stephan Jaegerm’s Korn Ferry record of 58 set in the first round of the 2016 Elime Classic. David Carey was the first player to shoot 57 at the 2019 Cervino Alpine Open.
Since Al Gelberger’s first 59 at the 1977 Memphis Classic, Del Solar became the 53rd man to shoot 60 on tours around the world, including the LPGA Tour, PGA Tour Champions and LIV Golf. Players with scores below par.
Joaquin Niemann shot a 59 last week at LIV Golf Mayakoba. Since 2013, Global Golf has held at least one under-60 competition every year.

Del Solar wasn’t the only player to benefit from the conditions, and although he broke the record for the round, he only led by four strokes.
“Today is the first day of competition,” he said. “I’m going to play again tomorrow. Hopefully by Sunday I’ll get some amazing news too. Hopefully I can celebrate Sunday too.”
