Hot off her first Emmy and Golden Globe nomination for her starring role in HBO’s The Penguin, Cristin Milioti has inked a deal to star in Buddy, a new film from Too Many Cooks helmer Casper Kelly, Deadline has confirmed.
Written by Kelly and Jaime King (World’s Best), the film’s plot is being kept under wraps, but it’s been described as a “new experience in horror.”
Production is underway, with J.D. Lifshitz & Raphael Margules producing for BoulderLight (Companion, Friendship), alongside Tyler Davidson & Drew Sykes for Low Spark Films (Emily The Criminal, Take Shelter), which co-financed the project — in association with Sipur Studios (Bad Boy) & Substance. BoulderLight VP of Development & Production Tracy Rosenblum is exec producing.
Drawing rave reviews for her turn as Sofia Falcone in The Penguin, Milioti has also recently been seen reprising her role as Nanette Cole in Black Mirror‘s “USS Callister: Into Infinity.” Recently, she also joined the FX pilot Seven Sisters, where she stars opposite Elizabeth Olsen.
Best known for writing, directing and exec producing Too Many Cooks, a viral, surreal short for Adult Swim, Kelly is also known for projects like Your Pretty Face Is Going to Hell, Stroker & Hoop and Star Trek: Very Short Treks, among others.
Recently announcing Amityville — a new spin on the legend at the heart of the Amityville Horror franchise — BoulderLight has Zach Cregger’s buzzy New Line horror film Weapons coming up for release on August 8.
