On the second anniversary of the deadliest attacks in Israel’s history, Genie Godula is pleased to welcome Gil Dickmann, cousin of slain hostage Carmel Gat, and one of the most vocal defenders of the hostage families. Mr Dickmann reminds us that, two years on, 48 hostages are still in captivity: “This massacre is on-going for them” and so his number one focus is “putting the issue of the hostages centre-stage and making sure this horrible war ends before it is too late for more hostages.” From assembling in tents in front of the Israeli prime minister’s home to addressing the Israeli parliament, the Knesset, families and friends of the hostages are mobilising in every way imaginable to keep up the pressure on the Israeli government and “make sure that the issue of the Israeli hostages is not off the table.” As US President Donald Trump pushes ahead with the 20-point plan, Mr. Dickmann is putting all of his hopes, not in Netanyahu, but in the US president: “In Trump we trust. We understand that Trump wants to end this war, this is what we want, this is what most of the people of Israel want and what most of the people of Gaza want: Get the hostages home, and stop innocent people from dying on both sides of the border”.
