Nigeria took the lead in the 38th minute with a goal by its captain, William Ekong, but the Ivorian team turned the tables.
Franck Kessie scored the equalizer for the hosts in the 62nd minute, then Sebastien Haller scored the winning goal in the 81st minute.
The Ivorian national team won the title for the third time in its history after the 1992 and 2015 editions, under the leadership of its coach, Emers Faye, after a heated confrontation during which it defeated the Portuguese coach Jose Peseiro of Nigeria.
