The Iraqi table tennis team won the bronze medal in the mixed doubles event in the Iraq International Table Tennis Championship, through the duo Abbas Aqeel and Ruqayya Abbas.
The Vice President of the Iraqi Federation for the game, Qasim Kaylon, said in a statement by the Olympic Committee received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The tournament includes nine teams: Iraq, Qatar, Jordan, Lebanon, India, Iran, Kazakhstan, Hong Kong and Switzerland, stressing that the competitions will be for five age groups starting from under (11) years old and ending with under (19) years old and for both sexes.”
He added that “the first day of the championship was allocated to the under (13) and under (17) age categories for both genders, noting that this championship enjoys the attention of the International Federation of the game and is under its supervision, and through it Iraq seeks to confirm its worthiness to host championships with all success.”
The Hong Kong and Iranian teams dominated the tournament awards on the second day, for the two categories mentioned and for both genders.
