The Minister of Health, Saleh Al-Hasnawi, confirmed today, Thursday, that the Al-Hayat Hospital for Addiction Treatment, which opened today in Diwaniyah, is the first of its kind in the Middle Euphrates region, while indicating that there are 8 projects that are hoped to be completed in the governorate during the current year.

Al-Hasnawi said to the Iraqi News Agency (INA): “The health file includes an integrated system that begins with the citizen and ends with the doctor, and this system must work in an integrated manner,” noting, “Today we opened the Al-Hayat Hospital for psychiatric diseases and addiction treatment in Diwaniyah to provide services.” It is a good step and a big step, as it is the first hospital in the Middle Euphrates to provide psychiatric and addiction services.”
He added, “Patients in nearby governorates will be referred to this hospital, which has 65 beds, and in the next stage, the second stage will open and be at full capacity.”
He stressed, “We must work on the preventive aspect that begins with the family, school, and community to reduce the phenomenon of addiction. The community is the target of the health system, and the more the community improves its culture of health, the better the health system will provide services,” noting, “Al-Hayat Hospital has been opened.”
He touched on 8 new projects in Diwaniyah, explaining that “we have several future projects in the governorate that include at least 3 hospitals in addition to the Cancer Center, the Center for Care of Premature Infants, and the Dialysis Center, which opened today with the current development of the Thalassemia Center and the rehabilitation of Al-Hussein Hospital,” explaining, that “All these projects will be completed during the current year.”
He stressed, “Cooperation between the federal government and local governments will support the health file in all governorates and improve the services provided.”
