Louise Trotter is exiting Carven. “On 24 January, Louise Trotter will close this chapter with us,” the house posted on Instagram with an image of red tulips on Thursday.
Trotter has been creative director of the French heritage brand since February 2023. Before that, she was creative director of Lacoste between October 2018 and January 2023, following a nine-year stint at Joseph.
In just three seasons at Carven, Trotter managed to inject new energy into the house, owned by China’s ICCF Group. “Carven’s Louise Trotter is finding her groove,” British Vogue’s Julia Hobbs wrote this summer. Fashion consultant Julie Gilhart told me after Trotter’s debut show at Carven: “It feels sophisticated and chic, wearable, and I am sure it will sell in the stores.”
The autumn/winter 2025 fashion show slated for Paris Fashion Week in March “remains as planned,” Shawna Tao, CEO of Carven, said in a release. “This AW25 show will focus on the essence of the house, those codes which we choose to continue in the future development. It will be a concise and focused collection to leave room for deeper exploration of these ideas next season.”
“Every ending is a new beginning,” the house also said in its Instagram post.
