EXCLUSIVE: Britt Lower (Severance), Inga Ibsdotter Lilleaas (Sentimental Value), and Selton Mello (I’m Still Here) are set to star in Michael Almereyda’s upcoming feature Zero K, joining previously announced cast members Caleb Landry Jones and Peter Sarsgaard.
Based on Don DeLillo’s novel of the same name, Zero K centers on a tech billionaire (Sarsgaard) preparing his dying wife (Lilleaas) for cryonic preservation in an advanced medical facility while his estranged son (Jones) searches for stability with a woman raising a young son (Lower).
The dramatic sci-fi premise shows them toggling between worlds — weighing faith in the present against the promise of an engineered afterlife. Production is currently underway in São Paulo, Brazil.
An RT Features, Keep Your Head, and Oak Street Pictures production, the film is produced by Anthony Katagas, RT Feature’s Rodrigo Teixeira, Almereyda, and Renee Frigo. Executive Producers include Berta Marchiori, Marília Garske, and Glauco Urbim.
The announcement comes as RT Features lands in Cannes with Palme d’Or Contender Paper Tiger by James Gray, starring Scarlett Johansson, Adam Driver, and Miles Teller, and Dominga Sotomayor’s La Perra in Directors’ Fortnight.
Lower is best known internationally for her performance as Helly R in the Apple TV series Severance alongside Adam Scott, Patricia Arquette, John Turturro, and Christopher Walken. Lilleaas was most recently seen in the Cannes Grand Prix and Oscar-winning drama Sentimental Value opposite Elle Fanning. Mello won international acclaim for his performance in Rubens Paiva in Walter Salles’ Oscar-winning drama I’m Still Here, on which RT was a producer.
Mello is represented by Conway van Gelder Grant and TFC Management. Lower is represented by UTA and Ames Hashagen Entertainment. Lilleaas is represented by CAA, Team Players and Curtis Brown Group.
