Gresi, the brother of Frenchman Karim Benzema, the Saudi Al-Ittihad striker, expressed his dissatisfaction with the position of Argentine Marcelo Gallardo, the Al-Ameed coach, after losing the Saudi Super Cup title.
Al-Ittihad lost the Diriyah Saudi Super Cup final yesterday, Thursday, to Al-Hilal, 4-1, at the Mohammed bin Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, UAE.
The match witnessed Benzema playing most of the time on the left side, which his brother resented, describing it as a crime.
After the match, Benzema’s brother showed his anger via a story on his official Instagram account, and wrote: “Karim Benzema plays on the left side? This is a crime!!! What you did has no meaning. You have to respect football.”
The French star has been struggling with scoring recently with the Jeddah team, and the team was eliminated from the AFC Champions League with a humiliating defeat against Al Hilal and also stayed away from competing for the Saudi League title, in addition to losing the Super Cup title to Al Hilal as well.
It is noteworthy that Al-Hilal’s victory in the Super Cup is the fourth in its history, while Al-Ittihad has only won the title once, which was last year (2023).
