Portuguese international midfielder Joao Palhinha has moved from Fulham to Bayern Munich, the Bavarian club announced on Thursday.
The Bavarian club said that Palinha joined Bayern for a fee of around 50 million euros with a contract until June 2028.
Bayern sporting director Max Eberl said: “Bayern Munich were keen on Palhinha until last summer, and that’s true. It was important that we never lost touch. Joao really wanted to come to Bayern, and we need players like that. He’s an important building block for our future.”
Palhinha, 31, who helped Portugal reach the quarter-finals of Euro 2024, is Bayern’s third new signing since Vincent Kompany was appointed coach in May, following Stuttgart defender Hiroki Ito and Crystal Palace forward Michael Olise.
Bayern is seeking to strengthen its ranks with world-class players in preparation for the new season after a difficult period it experienced last season, when the team lost the league title to Bayer Leverkusen, and was eliminated early from the German Cup and the Champions League semi-finals at the hands of Real Madrid.
