The Baghdad Municipality announced today, Saturday, the control of the drainage of rainwater that fell yesterday in the capital, and the commencement of street cleaning operations.

A statement from the secretariat, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated that “The Mayor of Baghdad, Ammar Musa Kadhim, directed the activation of the rain emergency plan, and the mobilization of the automated and human efforts of the municipal departments, with the field presence of the advanced staff represented by the agents and general directors, with direct follow-up by him.”
The statement added, “The Baghdad Sewerage Department activated the rain plan and operated the main and governing sewage stations and emergency lines and stations at their maximum capacity to speed up the drainage of water.”
He pointed out that “the amounts of rain that fell in the capital, Baghdad, are within the normal rate of the drainage network, and that the Baghdad Municipality departments were able to control the amounts of rain that fell severely, amounting to 16 mm, and drain it in record time, which is within the duties and tasks of the regular work of the Municipality.”
He continued, “The Mayor of Baghdad directed all municipal departments and divisions to implement a comprehensive campaign to clean the streets and pay attention to other service sectors in the regions and neighborhoods of the capital after the rain plan completes its tasks.”
