The Governor of Baghdad, Abdul Muttalib Al-Alawi, directed his technical deputy and the Baghdad Governorate Sewerage Directorate to be on full alert to withdraw and absorb the amounts of rain falling in the areas of the outskirts and districts.

A statement by the Baghdad Governorate, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), stated, “This came during a field tour by the Technical Deputy, Hani Nour Allah, and the Director of the Baghdad Governorate Sewerage Directorate, Firas Abdullah, to the regions south and east of Baghdad, and north of the capital, which continued until the late hours of yesterday evening, Friday.” It extended until Saturday morning to the areas of Kuweish within Al-Rashid district and Al-Ma’amel in Al-Zawraa district, in the presence of MP Kamel Anid, and other peripheral areas.”
The technical representative said, according to the statement, “The governor directed a rapid response to citizens’ appeals and the field presence of workers in sewage stations and centers to remove rain from the streets and side roads, in addition to operating the pumping stations with their full drainage capacity and deploying maintenance teams and specialized mechanisms,” noting that “technical personnel The Sewage Directorate has been mobilized to drain and absorb the amounts of rain, as well as continuing work in unserved areas by operating stations and diesel pumps to drain rainwater and supporting the automated efforts of the centers affiliated with the Directorate.”
