The US Federal Reserve has decided to keep its lending rate unchanged at the current 5.25-5.50 percent range and projected just one rate cut this year, despite soft inflation data. But first, the European Commission has informed China that it will impose new tariffs of up to 38 percent on Chinese-made electric cars from July 4 unless a solution is found. Israel kills senior commander: 'Most significant assassination' for Hezbollah since Gaza war
Hezbollah fired big barrages of rockets at Israel on Wednesday and vowed to ramp up its attacks in retaliation for an Israeli strike which killed a senior Hezbollah field commander, as the conflict across the Lebanese-Israeli border escalated sharply. An Israeli strike on the village of Jouya in southern Lebanon late Tuesday killed a senior field commander of Hezbollah and three fighters for the Lebanese armed group, three security sources said. Hezbollah confirmed the death of the commander and said in a statement that he was Taleb Abdallah, also known as Abu Taleb. World Bank sees global "soft landing" but warns of sluggish growth for developing nations
The World Bank has upgraded its growth outlook for the world this year, expecting it to hold steady at 2.6% for the first time in three years. The latest Global Economic Prospects report however warns that growth still remains well below the average of the pre-pandemic decade, affeting the world’s poorest economies that are still grappling with inflation and high debt.
