Three-time NBA Hall of Fame basketball player and executive Jerry West has died at the age of 86. China is threatening to take the European Union to the World Trade Organization (WTO) over the high import tariffs it is considering for Chinese electric vehicles. “China reserves the right to file a suit to the WTO and take all necessary measures to resolutely defend the rights and interests of Chinese companies,” Beijing’s commerce ministry spokesman He Yadong said. A court in China sentenced prominent #MeToo activist Huang Xueqin to five years in prison, convicting her of state subversion, according to a group campaigning for her release and a copy of the court verdict. Heavy rains wreaked havoc in south and central Chile killing one person, causing property damage and forcing authorities to declare a state of catastrophe in several regions of the country. Heavy downpours accompanied by storms led to flooding of roads, power outages and mudslides in several residential areas. More than 2,000 homes have been damaged and 60,000 have lost power.
