At least 34 people have died and more than 100 have been taken to hospital after drinking illegally brewed alcohol in Tamil Nadu in southern India, a senior official has said.The state’s chief minister M K Stalin said they had consumed liquor tainted with methanol, according to the Press Trust of India news agency.More than 100 people suffering from vomiting, stomach ache and diarrhoea have been admitted to hospitals in the Kallakurichi district since Wednesday – and more than 60 are still being treated, a government spokesperson for the state said on Thursday. It’s been difficult to find any kind of long-lasting peace in Yemen this year, despite the brief hope offered by a cease-fire negotiated between the two parties — the Houthis and the forces belonging to the internationally recognized government. The cease-fire, first agreed in the spring and extended several times, lapsed in October when the two sides couldn’t come to further agreement on it. The US Supreme Court on Friday upheld a ban on people convicted of domestic violence from owning guns. The justices ruled 8-1 in favor of a 1994 ban on firearms for people who are subject to restraining orders to stay away from their partners. “When a restraining order contains a finding that an individual poses a credible threat to the physical safety of an intimate partner, that individual may — consistent with the Second Amendment — be banned from possessing firearms while the order is in effect,” conservative Chief Justice John Roberts wrote. The musical cabaret artist Bodo Wartke and his collaborator, music producer Marti Fischer, were no strangers to social media within Germany.
