These characters are…

Sorry. You’re like, ‘You…
When Sterling K. Brown isn’t portraying the astute and grief-stricken Secret Service agent Xavier Collins in Hulu’s Paradise, the actor (recently nominated for his sixth Lead Actor in a Drama Series Emmy for the role) was filming Amazon MGM Studios‘ live-action film adaptation of Voltron. Speaking at a San Diego Comic-Con panel for the political thriller opposite series creator Dan Fogelman, the three-time Emmy-winning Brown took a moment to tease the upcoming movie, also starring Rita Ora, John Kim, Daniel Quinn-Toye and Henry Cavill. “Rawson Marshall Thurber is the director, the screenwriter. It’s time for marching orders. Lionsgate dropped a new trailer for The Long Walk today during the pic’s Hall H San Diego Comic-Con presentation Friday. Author of the novel that inspired the film Stephen King introduced the clip via video message, alluding to the Vietnam War and drawing attention to how this story came out long before The Hunger Games and Squid Game. “It’s got some hard bark on it,” King added of the adaptation. Based on King’s 1979 dystopian horror novel of the same name, The Long Walk takes place in a disillusioned America that is entertained by a competition called The Long Walk— a challenge in…
The first Bad Guys (2022) stood out for several reasons, primarily for a voice cast that sounded like the most stellar Sundance movie ever. The reason it worked, however, is that it capitalized on parent fatigue, replacing the black-and-white lecturing of the average Disney morality tale with subversive shades of grey, asking kids to root for a criminal gang of animals that, for a time, are only pretending to reform (until they inevitably do for real). This premise immediately sets up a tricky double negative for the sequel: where do they go next? By pretending not to have not reformed…
