Editor’s Note: Featuring the good, the bad and the ugly, ‘Look of the Week’ is a regular series dedicated to unpacking the most talked about outfit of the last seven days. CNN  —  When Marc Jacobs designed The Tote Bag, it seemed like the world nodded and scurried out to buy one overnight. When he launched his junior sub-brand Heaven, the notoriously elusive Gen Z shopper quickly claimed it as the aspirational label du jour. So it’s perhaps fitting that on Monday, before he had even shown his Spring-Summer 2026 collection, Jacobs had another stroke of innovation — this one…

CNN  —  After nearly four decades as the editor-in-chief of American Vogue, Anna Wintour is stepping down and seeking a replacement. Wintour broke the news to staffers on Thursday. Although she’ll exit the US edition’s top role, she is not leaving Condé Nast or Vogue altogether, but scaling back her duties. She will remain on Vogue’s global editorial director as well as Condé Nast’s global chief content officer, according to Vogue. The new role replacing her atop the storied American fashion magazine will be titled head of editorial content. As Vogue’s editor-in-chief, she reinvented the publication, transforming an increasingly unadventurous…

CNN  —  Editor’s Note: Examining clothes through the ages, Dress Codes is a new series investigating how the rules of fashion have influenced different cultural arenas — and your closet. One of the oldest elements of a bridal ensemble, dating at least as far back as Ancient Greece, veils have largely remained a staple accessory for even the most modern, subversive brides. When singer Lily Allen married actor David Harbour at an Elvis-inspired Las Vegas chapel in 2020, she eschewed an ornate gown in favor of a ‘60s-style Dior double-breasted mini-dress — but still wore a conventional tiered veil in…

Paris CNN  —  Against the backdrop of a scorching heatwave in Europe that has not spared the French capital, the menswear edition of Paris Fashion Week wrapped up on Sunday. The sweltering conditions were perhaps an incidental metaphor for the pressure the industry is feeling as the global luxury industry experiences a troubling slowdown. To this end, the Spring-Summer 2026 collections felt restrained. In a climate of uncertainty, designers proposed modular, adaptable wardrobes attuned to a global consumer, and the attention shifted away from slogans and theatrics toward refined construction and nuance, with block colors, versatile garments and an eye…

Editor’s Note: Featuring the good, the bad and the ugly, ‘Look of the Week’ is a regular series dedicated to unpacking the most talked about outfit of the last seven days. CNN  —  After much anticipation, Lauren Sanchez’s wedding gown has been revealed, with Dolce & Gabbana confirmed as the fashion house behind the elegant, high-necked design featuring 180 silk chiffon-covered priest buttons. Many details surrounding the Bezos-Sanchez wedding extravaganza have been closely guarded and, in keeping with tradition, this secrecy of course extended to the bridal dress. But the sartorial embargo could not keep a lid on early rumors…

Editor’s Note: Delving into the archives of pop culture history, “Remember When?” is a CNN Style series offering a nostalgic look at the celebrity outfits that defined their eras. CNN  —  By today’s standards, the front cover of American Vogue’s November 1988 edition seems typical enough. Beside the text “the real cost of looking good,” Israeli model Michaela Bercu gazes past the camera, her windswept hair brushing across the shoulders of a bejeweled $10,000 Christian Lacroix couture jacket. Yet, the cover signaled a revolution at the storied fashion bible. It also marked two important — and related — firsts: This…

CNN  —  Overlooked, familiar, homely… These are the words traditionally associated with the apron, a detachable, workaday garment that has historically functioned “almost like an invisibility cloak.” So said Carol Tulloch, a professor of dress, diaspora and transnationalism at Chelsea College of Arts, in a telephone interview with CNN. Just don’t tell that to Jeremy Allen White’s character Carmy Berzatto in hit TV drama “The Bear” whose tightly-tied blue Bragard apron (a replica of those worn in chic Napa Valley eatery The French Laundry) only enhances his main character energy as the show’s fourth season premieres this week. Tulloch, alongside…

Milan CNN  —  The feeling of unease is one of the hallmarks of our times, with cost of living increases and geopolitical conflicts contributing to a sense of disquietude. Within fashion, there is just as much uncertainty amid the ever-changing roster of designers at major luxury houses and a challenging retail climate. That mood was reflected at the Spring-Summer 2026 menswear shows in Milan, where the collections were generally a mixed bag. But one thing several designers agreed on was the need for compassion.“The most important thing for us was a change of tone: an invitation to embrace gentleness,” Prada…
