Australia has announced the largest military aid package to Ukraine, amounting to $250 million.
“The Australian Government continues to support Ukraine, announcing Australia’s largest ever military assistance package, worth around $250 million,” a statement posted on the Australian Department of Defence website said.
The statement explains that the package includes air defense missiles, air-to-ground weapons, various ammunition and anti-tank weapons.
The statement explained that the latest aid package raises the amount of Australia’s contribution to support Ukraine to nearly $1.1 billion.
On the sidelines of the recent NATO summit in Washington, more than 20 countries signed a document to accelerate and coordinate collective efforts to provide military support to Kiev.
The document was signed by the United States, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Iceland, Italy, Japan, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and the United Kingdom, in addition to the presidents of the European Council, the European Commission, and Vladimir Zelensky.
Under this document, the signatories pledge to “provide support to meet Ukraine’s urgent needs in the field of defense, security, military training and army modernization.”
The countries also noted that “Ukraine’s security is an integral part of the security of the Euro-Atlantic area.”
