The Ministry of Interior announced the arrest of a gang specialized in drug trafficking and promotion in the Al-Shaab area, and the seizure of drugs for use in the Al-Nahrawan district of Baghdad.
The ministry stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “according to security and intelligence information confirming the accurate field follow-up of the areas of responsibility, a force under the command of the commander of the 19th Brigade, 5th Federal Police Division, arrested red-handed a gang of 3 accused who were promoting narcotics in the Al-Shaab area, where they were found in possession of (5 small bags filled with crystal narcotic substance estimated at about 26 grams, contaminated ampoules used for drug use, and mobile phones).”
She added, “Pursuant to a judicial order, a force from the Second Brigade was able to carry out a search operation at the home of an accused who was arrested earlier in the Nahrawan district, during which materials used for drug use were seized (7 contaminated drug pipes, a pistol magazine, in addition to 2 motorcycles without proper papers),” stressing that “the accused were referred with the seized materials to the competent authorities to complete the investigative and legal procedures against them.”
