Tottenham Hotspur manager Anj Postkoglu has told his squad that more changes are coming. Spurs showed many signs of improvement in Postkoglu’s debut season until three consecutive defeats halted their progress.
Thursday night’s defeat to Chelsea highlighted some of the flaws in the current Tottenham squad, which is dominated by the pragmatic Mourinho, Nuno Espirito Santo and Antonio Conte and other head coaches, but are now required to play a more progressive style of football.
Postkoglu has already made some changes, sacking Hugo Lloris and Eric Dier in January, while signing Guglielmo Vicario, Mickey van de Ven, James ·Madison and Brennan Johnson. However, there will be further changes this summer, with Tottenham preparing to listen to offers for Pierre-Emile Hojberg, Giovanni Lo Celso and Brian Gill.
“We need change. Change has to happen,” Postecoglou said. “You can’t want to change your course and that’s a very dramatic change for this club because we were already going in a certain direction. Now we’re going in a completely different direction and the same people are expected to do the same. .This won’t happen.
“We’ve had two windows and our players have developed a bit, that’s for sure, but when I say we’ve got a long way to go, that’s what I’m saying. We can’t get there yet because it’s not possible Say you’re going to change dramatically, but expect everyone to go on the journey.
“It’s not about not wanting to try. It’s just that we’re going to play a certain way, train a certain way, we’re going to have a certain mentality, but it’s not for everyone. “I have to change this team, I have to do that because I have to build a team that I think can play our football. To do that, there have to be outlets.
Postkoglu has been criticized for his reluctance to make changes against certain opponents but has vowed to stick to his principles of front-foot football, which include a high line and a commitment to attacking from the back.
