The Federal Intelligence and Investigation Agency announced today, Sunday, the overthrow of a man impersonating an officer in the Ministry of Interior, in the capital, Baghdad.
The agency stated, in a statement received by Al-Rasheed, that “detachments of the Directorate of Intelligence and Counter-Terrorism in Baghdad, Al-Rusafa, received information related to a person claiming to work as an officer in the Ministry of Interior deluding citizens into hiring and issuing licenses to carry weapons in exchange for sums of money.”
She added: “Immediately, a working team was formed to investigate and collect information about the suspect, and after obtaining judicial approvals and completing all due process procedures, our detachments were able to arrest him with a controlled ambush.”
She continued: “When the accused was investigated, he frankly admitted that he had impersonated an officer in the Ministry of Interior. His statements were recorded and he was referred to the relevant authorities in preparation for his appearance before the judiciary to receive his just punishment.”
