Today, Saturday, the head of the Border Ports Authority, Major General Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, urged adherence to the laws and instructions issued by the government in combating corruption and undermining smuggling operations.

A statement by the authority, received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), said, “The head of the Border Ports Authority, Major General Omar Adnan Al-Waeli, concluded the field tour he conducted to the Basra Governorate crossings from the Shalamcheh border crossing.”
The statement added, “Al-Waeli was briefed on the work of the departments operating at the port, and urged the cadres to adhere to the laws and instructions issued by the government in combating corruption and undermining smuggling operations.”
He explained, “The tour also included reviewing the network connection between the Shalamcheh border crossing, the Authority’s headquarters, and the National Data Center in the General Secretariat of the Council of Ministers, which is one of the important programs that was implemented by the Authority’s cadres, and according to government directives, to move to electronic work to achieve the desired results in combating… Corruption, preventing waste of public money, and achieving the required revenues.”
He continued, “The field visits of the Chairman of the Authority continue to directly see the reality of work in order to evaluate and correct it and address the gaps that are diagnosed.”
