Acting Speaker of Parliament Mohsen Al-Mandalawi condemned the attempted assassination of MP Taqi Al-Waili, while calling on the Minister of Interior and the Baghdad Operations Command to expedite the arrest of the perpetrators and bring them to justice.
Al-Mandlawi’s media office stated in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives Mohsen Al-Mandlawi strongly condemned the cowardly assassination attempt that MP Taqi Nasser Al-Waili and his honorable family were subjected to, following an armed attack launched by criminal gangs on his home in the Al-Dula’i area in the capital, Baghdad.”
According to the statement, Al-Mandlawi called on the security services, headed by the Minister of Interior and the Commander of Baghdad Operations, to take urgent action to uncover the circumstances of the targeting incident, arrest the outlaw group that carried out this failed operation, and bring it to justice.
The Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives called on the relevant authorities not to be lenient with such crimes that would destabilize security and stability in Baghdad and all governorates, and to develop a proactive plan to arrest criminal gangs and activate the intelligence side to prevent any attack that threatens the security of the country and its citizens.
