Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, called today, Thursday, for cooperation in order to eliminate terrorist ideology that harms the social fabric of the two countries, while demanding that wanted persons present in Turkish territory be handed over to the Iraqi judiciary.
The media office of the Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives said in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), that “The Acting Speaker of the House of Representatives, Mohsen Al-Mandalawi, agreed, during his meeting today, in the Turkish capital, Ankara, with the Grand Deputy Speaker of the Turkish National Assembly, Bakir Bozdag, to strengthen parliamentary relations between the two countries.” “And activating the role of the Iraqi-Turkish Friendship Committee and joint cooperation in all fields.”
Al-Mandalawi stressed that “Iraq has suffered for many years from terrorism, and rejects all groups that practice the language of killing and destruction,” noting that “the House of Representatives and the government prioritize maintaining security on the Iraqi-Turkish borders as a priority in their tasks.”
He called for “work to eliminate terrorist ideology that has harmed the social fabric of both countries, as well as coordination in the areas of border control and drug control, in addition to cooperation in handing over those wanted to the Iraqi judiciary on corruption charges and those present on Turkish territory.”
He stated that “Iraq is witnessing a state of security stability and wants to be a positive starting point in the region,” pointing out that “it considers Turkey a key partner and has strong relations with it, and seeks to strengthen them in the economic and investment fields in a way that benefits the two peoples and the two neighboring countries.”
Regarding the export of oil from the Kurdistan region through Turkish ports, Al-Mandalawi stated that “there is a solution between the center and the region in this file.”
